Accomplished and gifted, we are moved by the gracious and appreciative nature of local luminary, Jason Bempong aka Brotha Jason. Bempong keeps many of his days busy driving the expansion of his well-established art and fashion brand, Sleepless Mindz. He began adapting carefully-chosen vintage clothing back in 2013 - incorporating colour and texture by hand-painting details and playing with the distinctive look of retro pop culture brands. It’s easy to spot the Sleepless Mindz signature cloud symbol and hat-tip to his family lineage with patches made from traditional Ghanaian Kente cloth. The result being a highly recognizable, ever-rotating inventory of iconic one-of-a kind pieces.

Disciplined in the world of performance arts and often seen sporting a number of playful pieces from his own collection, you can catch Bempong making moves in a multitude of music videos, acting in commercials, competing in dance battles and painting live for his collections at local events. If you have had the pleasure of watching Brotha Jason dancing live on stage, then you likely took notice of his multi-dimensional skills as a dancer and performer. There is no question you felt the undeniable spirit that he emits when actively showcasing the endless creative concepts that keep him up at night.

The modality of a mid-march born Pisces is one of adaptation and they are said to possess an incredibly curious mind. That might explain why Bempong has been so successful in his pursuit to fuel a multi-faceted artistic movement that inspires you to “dream with your eyes open.” If this is the kind of artistic drive that brings success, then wide awake with our head in the clouds is where we all want to be. ϟ
